A Week at the Capital – Matsue, Shimane

I just returned home from a one week trip to the capital of Shimane Prefecture – Matsue. While there I studied Japanese, bonded with fellow Shimane JETs, visited Matsue Castle, explored an old samurai residence, attended Shimane’s largest matsuri, ate my first bowl of ramen, and dined for the first time at a kaiten sushi restaurant.

The time away from my apartment in Kawamoto allowed the reality of my new home to settle in. It was a delight to have so many letters, postcards, and packages awaiting me…I have the most wonderful family, friends, and partner. All there is to do now is enjoy a pot of tea and read read read.
